Verify Game Ownership
Add a single game without any API key by proving you control its Steam store page.
Store page verification lets you add a single game to Gamosy without sharing any API key. You prove you control the game by placing a short proof token on its Steam store page - something only someone with edit access to the page can do.
How It Works
- Navigate to Developer → Games and choose to add a game by store page verification
- Enter your game's Steam AppID or paste its store page URL
- Gamosy generates a proof token that looks like
gamosy-followed by 16 characters. Copy it - Place the token on your store page - two options:
- About section: paste the token as plain text anywhere in the About This Game section
- Website link: append
?gamosy=TOKENto the Website link on your store page
- Publish the store page edit in Steamworks
- Back in Gamosy, click Check now
Once the token is found on your store page, the game is verified and added to your library.
No Website? Use Your gmsy.me Page
If your studio has a published Gamosy bio page (Link in Bio), the wizard shows a ready-made address like https://gmsy.me/your-studio?gamosy=TOKEN. Copy it and set it as the Website on your Steam store page - the token rides along in the address, and verification works exactly the same.
Bonus: after verification you can keep the gmsy.me address as your Website. Your Steam page then links to a bio page with your socials and a live Steam wishlist widget - a better landing spot than no website at all. If you do not have a bio page yet, create one for free from the Link in Bio section of your dashboard.
Timing Notes
- Steam caches store pages - your published edit can take up to about 1 hour to appear in the data Steam serves. If the check does not pass right away, wait a bit and try again
- Gamosy re-checks nightly - you do not have to keep clicking. Pending claims are re-checked automatically every night
- Tokens are valid for 7 days - if a claim expires before verification, simply start again to get a fresh token
- You can remove the token after verification - it is a one-time proof, not a permanent marker
Which Method Should I Use?
Both paths unlock the same product. The key only adds catalog automation:
| Store page verification | Publisher API key | |
|---|---|---|
| Campaigns, keys, analytics, and every other Gamosy feature | Included | Included |
| Adding games | One game at a time | Bulk import of your whole catalog |
| Restore and resync | Manual | Automatic |
| Wishlist import | Not available | Optional, with the Sales Data permission |
You can also combine them: start with store page verification today and connect a key later. See Connecting Steam for the key setup, including how to create a key with minimal permissions.
FAQ
Can I remove the token afterwards?
Yes. The token is a one-time proof. Once your game shows as verified in Gamosy, you can edit your store page and remove it.
What if someone else already claimed my AppID?
Each Steam app can belong to one Gamosy team. If your AppID is already taken and you believe that claim is not legitimate, contact support and we will resolve the dispute.
Does this give Gamosy any access to my Steamworks account?
No. Gamosy only reads your public store page to look for the token. There is no key, no login, and no access to your Steamworks account at any point.
